Architectural loft in Antwerp

Loft living

When architect Katrien Van Goethem got the opportunity to buy a 160m2 loft in an old coffee-roasting factory in the heart of Antwerp, she did not hesitate one second.

With high ceilings and large windows on both sides, she saw the apartment had many assets and realized a complete renovation in less than 6 months.

The apartment became a getaway with few stimuli, where she could enjoy peace and quietness after a long and active day. A home with a limited colour palette, but anything but boring thanks to the ceiling in dark stained wood and the oval kitchen island in inox, which is the real eyecatcher.

Flouting conventions

Katrien's apartment felt like a white canvas where she integrated colourful elements by adding Serra cushions.

She chose to work with Serra cushions because they are made from an Italian fabric with a peach-like surface. The white top fibre of the fabric gives these pillows an aged look and that is why the bright colours blend in very well with a white or minimal interior.

The pillows did not only contribute to the industrial feeling of this loft, but they also break up the monotony and create focal points that draw the eye.

Changing the pillows in your couch is an ideal and inexpensive way to update and refresh your interior without any major renovations. Like the art in an art gallery, this will definitely elevate your mood.
